Today is a Japanese menu with sanma, miso soup, and dried daikon salad.  I don’t know how I really feel about the dried daikon.  It is sweet and pretty good, but the texture I think is too much for me sometimes.  It is tough to describe since it is a little bit crunchy but also soft and juicy at the same time.  It is a unique dish.  Today’s miso soup was good as always and I enjoyed the potatoes and onions in particular today.  Today’s main dish is the real superstar of the menu with sanma in plum sauce.  The plum sauce is tart and a little sweet and really makes the fish taste completely new and fresh.  It is great.  I was expecting the regular miso sauce that usually comes with it, but was pleasantly surprised at the sour and sweet flavor of the plums mixing so well with the fish.  The meat itself was cooked perfectly and the perfect texture between being soft and meaty.  What a treat hidden in plain sight.  The final treat in today’s lunch is the sweet little fruit gummies that we got as well.  Three little grape dots which were tougher than normal gummies but had a nice grape flavor.  A little sweet treat at the end of a nice meal.
